How To Record Gameplay Videos: Fraps

Fraps
Ever wondered how you can record gameplay smoothly with Fraps? If you're wondering how to do this, or just how to video capture gameplay videos; it is actually fairly simple. It only requires video capturing software. There are many different video capturing software, but the one that I would like to share and use is called Fraps. You may have already heard of it. Fraps is considered one of the top video capturing software because it is able to capture raw data. What this means is that whatever is present on your screen; Fraps would be able to capture it in the highest and raw quality. Fraps also has the ability to record raw sound capture as well, so whatever sound that is playing on your computer you will be able to have the option to have that recorded within your video recordings as well. So if you're looking into recording software, Fraps may be one of your interests because its such a powerful and easy-to-access program.
Testing Fraps
But how do you know if its right for you? Fraps offers a free version that allows you to test the program itself; but you're limited to some features such as only 30-second length videos which are watermarked. The free version's purpose is to give you the option to test the actual software allowing you to tweak settings possibly to see if your desktop or laptop can handle the program, and possibly at different settings.

Choosing the Settings
After you have downloaded the software you maybe wondering, What settings should you use for recording gameplay videos? Well one way to figure out would be to test out different settings. One of the main options for video capturing is choosing the right fps, the standard fps is 30 on the Fraps settings which I find is quite enough, but if you're wanting to make sure you capture every single definition on your screen you can spark it up to the any number you want if your computer can handle it. Keep in mind the human eyes can only see 25 fps, up to 40 fps when in panic if you're considering what fps would be best for your viewers. Finding your optimal settings may involve changing screen resolutions in your actual game clients as well. Everyone has different PC's so everyone might not have the option to capture at the same settings. If you're experiencing lag or some sort of delay in your recorded videos before or during recording; a good idea would be to lower the resolution of your game and try recording again to see if it works more smoothly.

Video Resolutions for uploading to YouTube
If you're wondering about what settings would be best for uploading to Youtube so it would fit in the player perfectly here they are:

  • 1080p: 1920x1080 (HD)
  • 720p: 1280x720 (HD)
  • 480p: 854x480
  • 360p: 640x360
  • 240p: 426x240

  • Conclusion
Personally, Fraps is extremely simple to use if you know the in-and outs of the program and it's features. I've tried many recording software and Fraps is by far one of the most powerful and  most simple interfaces I've ever seen. Not to mention the software is incredibly easy to understand as well. Also I really like how it is so easy to start recording gameplay, as soon as you have the program on your computer and running with your game client you will be able to start recording with just a click of a button.

I hope this little Fraps how-to-guide helped you, and if you have any questions please feel free to ask me. Hope you all have a nice day!

ASUS VX238H-W White 23 Inch LCD Monitor Review

ASUS VX238H-W White 23 Inch LCD Monitor Review
    Introduction
What I've noticed recently is the lack of white monitors that were available on the market, most monitors that are available on the market are either older models are models that are no longer supported by their manufactures. Luckily, I ran into the ASUS VX238H-W. Here is my review.  I was in the market for a monitor that was fast with a great ms speed. I also wanted a monitor that would be stylish and perform well overall in aspects such as playing media; surfing the web; and gaming.. I also wanted to see if I could find one around a budget of $200. Luckily enough I managed to find and purchase one on Newegg.com with everything I wanted for a better price of $180; the ASUS VX238H-W White 23 Inch LCD Monitor. This monitor not only suits my performance preferences but its also very stylish and definitely would match very well with my Corsair 600T case.
    What caught my eye
Surprisingly, there are many things that caught my eye about the monitor. One of them being the monitor's special use of Anti-UV materials that prevent the VX238H chassis from decaying and turning yellow. Another thing that caught my eye was the monitor's very modern and slim design, I love the simplistic colors and material used on the monitor; its very simple but very stylish at the same time. This monitor will definitely match my current setup that includes my Corsair 600T White Graphite case. I also think this monitor looks a lot better in person as well, the monitor is a lot more white with a very nice gloss finish, and the monitor is much more bold then it appears in its stock photos giving it a more defined, luxurious feel.
    Overview
A nice thing about the VX238H-W is that it has plenty of features; my favorites are the easily configurable modes that are featured in the monitor; Standard Mode, Theater Mode, Game Mode, Night View Mode, sRGB, and Scenery Mode. These five modes make it a lot easier to switch to a theme mode to be more suitable to give me the right picture quality for whatever I am doing. Overview of some nice features of the monitor:
    • 80,000,000:1 high contrast ratio, exclusive Splendid Video Intelligence Technology, and HDMI achieve the finest image and color quality
    • The sturdy sundial-inspired stand and ultra-slim profile provide stability and durability
    • Ultra-fast 1.0ms (gray-to-gray) response time for an amazing blur-free multimedia experience
    • The VX238H-W Full HD LED monitor, with an 80,000,000:1 high contrast ratio, is optimized for the finest image and color quality. Your eyes will be drawn to its unprecedented design – a sundial-inspired stand and an ultra-slim profile finished in pure white.
    • Also, VX238H-W uses Anti-UV materials to prevent color decay.
    • Full HD 1080 Support
    • Aspect Control function allows users to select a preferred display mode among Full and 4:3 for true-to-life gaming or movie watching without any data loss or image distortion.
    • Extensive Connectivity and Built-in Stereo Speaker for Multimedia Enjoyment
    • Stylish and User-friendly Design for Modern Sophistication
    • Complete After-Sale Service
    • Convenient key controls for functional set-up in the multi-language OSD.
    • 3-year system warranty
    • 3-year panel warranty
    Overall thoughts
Overall, I think this was the perfect monitor for me; it does just about everything I would want it to do, and it looks amazing. The ASUS VX238H-W was also perfect for my budget, it was exactly how much I was looking to spend for a monitor. For the price of $180 I think I got a pretty swell deal for its specifications and cable components. As far as quality goes I also believe it was well worth the price, the monitor not only felt expensive but its sleek and modern look also made it look pricey as well. If you're looking for a black monitor, the VX238H-W comes in black as well. Overall, to conclude I really like the ASUS VX238H-W, I think you would to, the VX238H-W is definitely a monitor worth checking out.
